New quilt made with Mother of Pearl Pattern

A local customer called me up I think 2 months ago and asked me if I had any cowboy quilts, I didn’t, so she went on the hunt for cowboy fabrics (without picking out a pattern first!)

Then she dropped off a pile of FQs and went for a hunt for some solids/blenders and came back another day, THEN we finally picked a pattern.

I had tried to explain that we should have picked a pattern first and THEN see how much fabric was needed 🙂

Because she brought a bunch of FQs, I showed her all my FQ patterns and we decided on Mother of Pearl, a smaller layout and with a border.

Because it was a baby quilt and she had a few fabrics where she bought yardage of, we figured those would be the border and backing and then because it’s a baby quilt, I took out some of the more childish prints as some of them were more adult/ grown up cowboy prints and they were totally different, then we also picked 3 blenders/solids to go with that.

I used my GO QUBE dies to cut everything out and sorted the fabrics into sets for the blocks.

After I had the blocks sewn together, I texted her different layout ideas and had her pick

Then I added the borders (and used of a horseshoe FQ for the inner border)

And I quilted it with a horseshoe design (which I used recently for a customer quilt too)

I can’t remember how big the quilt ended up, but it was less than a WOF so I was able to use this cute print for the backing.

She loved the quilt!
