Color of the month blocks are done for April

The color for April was Purple for Soscrappy

and I really don’t have much purple at all, it’s not my favorite color at all, BUT I have made quilts with purple fabrics over the years, so I had some scraps!

all these blocks are made with Accuquilt BOB dies

Here’s Chinese Lantern Blocks, my rule is now to have a solid black background, a patterned and solid color for the blocks.

Next is Washington’s puzzle, it’s such a cute and tiny block, I want to make a gazillion blocks like these!!

Crossed Canoe with a sort of solid as one color, I’m missing green because I didn’t have enough green large scraps, so I’ll wait and see what I’m missing at the end of the year.

Then Butterfly blocks, solid white background, patterned upper wings, solid bottom wings and a different brown body.

Road to Fortune, again missing green, which I think I could make now or maybe I’ll just wait and see, white(ish) background, bold outer ring, solid middle and a complimentary color for the center of the block.

Chimney sweep, here I used canva to find the complimentary color and the blocks seem to blend together, should be interesting at the end.

Priscilla, solid beige background, lightish tips and 3rd row, solid middle row and a dark center.

canning jar blocks, I have the mottled beige fabric already cut and more, then a sort of floral for the jars and a brown lid

Morning star, two tones of the same color

Road to Arkansas, grey background, then solid-ish tips and centers and a patterned for the other sides of the block.

Storm at sea, I think I messed up on the purple color placement, but at least the grey background is correct.

I don’t have a master plan for any of these blocks yet, we’ll see toward the end of the year or if I play around in EQ one day.

  1. The Chinese Lanterns are stunning. I totally agree with your choice of a black background. The lanterns just pop!!

  2. All of these are fabulous blocks! I like that it could wind up being a lot of quilts, or a couple of sampler quilts. I don’t think you messed up the purple. It looks different because of having the red purple and the lavender, but that doesn’t mess it up. You’re doing a terrific set of patterns.
