First I want to thank Carol for allowing me to join the hop- I often neglect reading blog posts and then miss the sign ups, but I know the hosts and asked Carol to join this one and also Carla about the one in January
This hop snuck up on me, I thought I had more time, but it’s the holidays so LIFE happens!!
So I figured I’d make something small this time, so I looked on my computer for some Christmas-y embroidery files and found these cute bells and did some redwork embroidery on my embroidery machine 🙂
then I trimmed it to 4 1/2″ and added a 1″ strip in red batik all the way around.
It was a little too big to be an ornament to I decided to make it a small pincushion instead, so I added a piece of fabric for the backing and sewed right sides together with an opening at the bottom, trimmed the corners and pressed the opening with an iron so it’s easy to see when I turned it right side out.
Then I stuffed it with fiber fill and ladder stitched it closed and took this picture by the Christmas tree- now I wish I had added a ribbon and just kept it as an ornament, oh well.
I wasn’t going to share a recipe, but WHY not?? It’s one I’ve shown before- at least year’s cookie blog hop too actually!
It’s called a Danish Layer Cake, it’s really a birthday cake, and I always make it for hubby’s birthday- which was mid November, but then through the years other people have tasted it and love it and ask me to bring it on special occasions, which is often for holidays, so….
it’s now our Thanksgiving/Christmas/Birthday/Whenever cake!
I’ve made this cake 4 times in the last month now! 2 for birthdays and 2 for Thanksgiving!

Those embroidered bells are beautiful! The Danish cake looks delicious. I remember saving the recipe last year. Guess I’d better get that cherry wine at Aldi so I can get one made! Thanks for sharing.
