Scrap everything blog hop

I’m (as always) scheduling this post ahead of time, we’re into the 3rd week of isolation and  the kids won’t have school until at least May 15th! My son is a senior and will graduate but won’t have a ceremony until maybe August and hopefully he will go to university then too and actually live in campus instead of online learning! But it’s good that everyone stays home!

So when Pat posted about a scrap quilt blog hop, I figured I could totally come up with something, I often make scrap quilts and I actually thought I’d just take one of my UFOs and show that today, but I ended up finishing something else up (I’ve shown a few pics already in instagram @bealeequilter) but here it is!

I started with the pineapple die from Accuquilt and cut out random light green and pink pieces, I decided to not worry about the pinks if they were dark or light pink, that it might add some fun interest!?

I cut out and made 12 blocks, the blocks finish 10″ so I figured a 3×4 layout is good and then with borders it can still be a nice baby quilt!

I had a good chunk of this pink floral fabric left and it had green leaves too so that seemed to fit perfectly! I believe the inner border finish at 1″ and the outer at 3″ so the top is probably 38″ x 48″

I long arm quilted a flower design e2e on my Juki QCT4

I love how I used this owl print and had the owls face the right way and there’s also some babies and Tinkerbell also sneaked in there 🙂

The binding was a green floral I found too but it was cut lengthwise, but I managed to cut strips and the binding worked out great!

For the backing I DID use some yardage, I just happened to have a nice solid piece of a pink print, so that seemed to work well.

Here’s some pictures of the quilt folded up that shows more details.

I didn’t really put a dent in my pinks nor light greens, oh well…..But I do want to make another pineapple quilt like this, it’s really one of my favorite dies from accuquilt! Here’s a picture of my shelves with Accuquilt dies and my scrap bins below, they are actually shoe boxes and I have 24 of them.

Here’s how I sort the fabrics in there….

Solid White, white on white, white print, beige, yellow, orange, flesh/peach, pink, red, burgundy, light purple, dark purple, teal/turquoise, light blue, dark blue, light green, dark green, hunter green, light brown, dark brown, grey, black print, solid black and then Christmas prints.

  1. What a cheerful quilt! I agree that the peeking owls are a great addition.

  2. I’ve always loved pink and green together. The owls peeling out make this extra fun! Thanks for the inspiration.
