Quilt in Quiltmaker

I have a quilt in Quiltmaker Sept/October 2016!

QM1610-COVERx500

This was a quilt that was part of my plan for RSC16 but then I submitted it to Quiltmaker/McCall’s in January and they picked it! so I had to quickly make it and send it to them Smile

This was my original sketch (actually minus the inner border)

Here’s the quilt!

It measures 42” x 50”

I also decided to make a scrappy binding.

and of course I couldn’t have done it quickly WITHOUT the KITE die from Accuquilt!

GO! Kite-4" Finished fabric cutting die (55254) - packaging shown.

Here was some of my original sketches

a totally different look with a white background!

These were the original blocks that started it all!

and then 20 blocks were quickly made

and here’s the top done

Then quilted and bound

I did feathers and swirls all over it in black thread.

And of course the back is never shown in magazines so I had no problem making it sort of scrappy Smile

Here’s a blog post about the quilt on their site too Smile

Congratulations Bea and yes, it is posted over at Quiltmaker today.

Do you talk about using your Kite die in the magazine article? If not, do you have any tips for those of us who want to die cut when making this pattern. (I just bought the Kite die during Accuquilt's recent sale.) Thanks.

Forgot to mention, I love the scrappiness of these blocks!
