Pineapple quilt

I’ve shown some of these pictures already,  but I like to have them all in one post!

I think it was back in January that I started this scrappy pineapple quilt, made with the pineapple die from Accuquilt which makes 10″ blocks. I found that I had enough of all the wedges cut out in scraps, I just needed to cut out the center square and the triangles for the corners.

The blocks go together easily with the precut shapes!! and quickly I had 12 blocks made!

The last round was a little odd because I had counted all the shapes and knew I had plenty leftover to make it more random, but at the end here I had just barely enough, but it worked and I added the black triangles, then when I took this picture, I realized what I did wrong!

The center square is supposed to be straight, NOT on point like a diamond, but the pieces fit but the block was actually TOO big, I had added a round too many, so now it was 11 1/4″, but it didn’t really matter, who would know?

So I used EQ to play around with layouts and really liked this one with sashing strips!

Here’s the quilt all done with black sashing and inner border, it measures 46″ x 58″

Instead of a blue order I used a green fabric I had enough of and then a solid green binding!

I do think it was a fun quilt to make with no rules, other than not having the same color fabric touch each other!

For the backing I used a light green fabric and I quilted it in green thread with the heart loopy design I recently got.

I do love scrappy “free” quilts like this, it makes you feel good that you didn’t use expensive yardage for it, though I didn’t cut into my scrap bins at all!! And they are still overflowing- those little buggers must mate at night!!??

Awesome! Excellent use of random scraps. I received a pineapple ruler for Christmas and I was wondering how the block would look all scrappy. Using the die cutter sped up the process making it a perfect project. I like the green binding and how it blends with the border.

    1. The pineapple die is one of my favorite scrappy dies, of course I like my qube sets too. You can do so much with the pineapple die, so many fun designs!

  2. I need to do a quilt like this! It’s beautiful! I have the pineapple die and one of my resolutions is to use up stash so this is perfect!

  3. Very pretty; love the dark BG to set off all the fun prints. Scrappy is my favorite kind of quilting, and this “specimen” is no exception. I’ve made 2 pineapple quilts and it didn’t reduce my scrap pile, either. LOL

I am in the process of trying to find homes for my qubes ( I now have them all) and to put ALL my scraps in a bin and then separate the sizes ….and then make one (or two) of these. And also use my EPP qube for some of it too. I am just getting over Covid so my strength is less than my usual strength….sort of do a little, sit down ,do a little, sit down…..I am now in the sit down mode. I will have lunch and then start the next cycle. Loved these and I understand about that center block…did the same darn thing with my first one!
