3D challenge with Island Batik

This month’s “theme” for Island Batik ambassadors is “3D”

At first I thought of a quilt that “looked” 3D, like my “Blue lagoon” quilt

Or maybe some sort of 3D element on a quilt, like a pinwheel or a pocket? But instead I decided on something I’ve done in the previous years around this time of year; ORNAMENTS!

Ornament girl, released some new patterns recently that looked like quilt blocks, so I just HAD to have them!!

The one on the left is Ohio Star

And the one on the right is called Kaleidoscope

I made these two out of batik scraps I had leftover from other projects, as I didn’t have many “Christmasy” fabrics, so it was to try something “different” too.

Here they are hanging on my Christmas tree!

As I mentioned above, I’ve made these before and usually I’ve done her basic star pattern, here’s a blue and white one from last year

How about a pink and blue one?

Here I tried a different middle

all blue!

more traditional colors with black and notice I used the IB ribbon to hang it on the tree (I moved it up to take a picture, though it’s still blurry)

These ornaments are so much fun to make, just wear a thimble other your fingers get poked by all the pins!
