2023 project list week 20

Lots to tell in this post!

Since I do my “project” posts on Saturday, I didn’t get to show what I got for Mother’s day- a nice bouquet of Pink Lilies (and they look much better this week, more have opened up!) a pack of chocolates and a handmade Yoshi figure from Sonja- the kids know I LOVE Yoshi! and at church Anja made me a card 🙂

I made 3 cat eyeglass cases for an ETSY order and sent them and then I didn’t realize it was a present and sent to someone else so I got a phone call from the recipient later in the week who was all confused why she got this and I had to figure it out and then she squealed the woman’s name and was so excited! ha ha

Since Solveig is done with school, the creative juices are flowing again and she started on another long furby

Sonja wanted to do something too and started on some wings for her dragon character, but did NOT want help from me but then got stuck and then she’s sewing it together HER way…. oh it’s so hard to NOT take over and do it “right” LOL but I’ll let her do it her way and if she ends up “wasting” 2-3yds of fabric then it’s a learning experience.

Thursday Night Solveig has an “Excellence in Academics” awards ceremony to go to, which is new in the county since the county got a few superintendent, it’s for the top 10% of seniors for the county’s high schools, I think there were maybe 30-40 students and only 3 from Solveig’s school, but that’s because there’s only 30 admitted each year for the early college and I heard there’s only 11 graduating this year. She still has the Highschool graduation next week and THEN it’s over!!

One other GOOD NEWS before I get to the bad news, one of my loyal blog followers/customers/ QAL participants emailed this picture of PASTURE where she turned it into a bed runner, how NEAT! the PURPLE looks great!! (she knew I don’t care for purple, but I DO like purple and grey and purple and green together!) GREAT JOB SHELLEY!!

Now to the bad news……

I think it was last week when I got a call or an email that my mom was going to the hospital because they thought she had a blood clot in her leg. Then after a few days I called the hospital and talked to a nurse and she said everything looked fine but they didn’t know why she was not well, no blood clot, no cancer, blood work looked good…..but she’s just not well and not eating enough. Whenever they would send her home they would send her to a temporary nursing home instead so she could be watched and constant pain management. I also talked to a social worker and she really thinks my mom should get to a permanent nursing home soon, no idea how long that takes and what about all her stuff? I don’t know if I really want to go over there to clean out her house, there’s nothing I want, everything is dirty and smoky and just SAD! The social worker said she would see my mom Tuesday next week and let me know how she’s doing and maybe arrange a Skype call or I asked to see a picture of her.

Then Friday morning I woke up and there was a missed call from DK on my phone so I called it back and it was a county nurse who had been called to the nursing home and my mom was not doing well, they did a blood test and saw signs of infection and her leg was tender, swollen and red, so back to the hospital she went! I had a nice talk with her too…. At least now MY mom’s file seem to show that I NEED to know when stuff happens! Even if it’s minor but still….. I don’t know if my mom has given up on life or what, she’s too skinny (that last weight was 88lbs) and now she’s not taking her pain meds, she’s getting dementia or forgetting stuff or willfully forgetting stuff, I don’t know. It’s hard for me as I can’t do much from over here and I don’t know what good it would do to fly over. All I can do is pray for her!

-Update Saturday morning, my mom is back in the nursing home and participated in a man’s birthday party at lunch time and ate lunch in the dining room, I got to talk to her and she seemed in a better mood! so that’s a relief!!

  1. Dear Bea, I am so sorry to hear about your mom. I know how hard it must be since you live so far from her. Remember that death is a process that everyone goes through. God has a plan and you will feel it in your heart when it is time to go see her. Be strong. I am praying for you. With love and prayers, Shelly

    P.S. Congratulations to Solveig

  2. I hope this is not the time for your mother, but God will be the chooser. I like what I see of Sonja’s project. It must be fun to have the girls involved in some of the same things you love, too.
