I have wanted to make a temperature quilt for a long time! Finally I came up with an idea for flying geese where the large triangle is the HIGH temperature for the day and the “wings” small triangles are for the LOW temperature for the day!
I made this quilt for Solveig to give to her for her graduation!
I looked up the closet weather “history” and found a website where you can pick your closest location and year and then write down the weather for each day.
It’s a ton of fun but also tricky!
I also added an appliqued heart for her birthday!
I wrote the pattern for this and gave directions and links to where to find all this information and I also include a coloring page to print so you can color in the temperature for each day.
I used the 6″ QUBE set to make the blocks but I always provide rotary cutting directions.
You can get the pattern here, it’s on sale until Sunday for $8
I also have KITS available here, though it’s tricky to estimate how much you need, so the kit includes 1yd of 11 fabrics and the grey fabric, but I recommend that you get the pattern and do a rough calculation of each fabric, or you can get the kit and 1yd SHOULD be enough, I had JUST enough of the warm colors to make this quilt which used a lot of those fabrics for most of the warmer months. KITS are on sale from $106 to $96
It really was SUCH a fun quilt to make, that I want to make another one, do you want to do it as a quilt along? Or would you rather have a detailed blog post to refer back to?
I love it! It’s really beautiful. I made a temperature quilt for 2022, using the Accuquilt 4″ Drunkard’s Path die, with the quarter circle being the high temp and the rest of the square the low temp. I added embroidered blocks to separate the months (snowflake for January, heart for February, etc.) and a double block for the year so that I could get an even layout. It was so fun and it’s bright and cheerful. I even put a guide on the back to show what color represented what temperature range!
