Farmer’s Wife QAL block Q

It’s time for the Farmer’s wife QAL block Q

made using Accuquilt dies and solids from connecting threads!

Block Q is the second block in the 4th row below, it’s #48 in the book and is called Homeward bound.

It’s on page 108 and 175 in the book

Here I simplified it from the book so cut out these pieces

with Light blue cut out (4) of #2 and (4) of #8 and (1) of #1

with grey cut out (4) of #1

with Black cut out (4) of #2

sew the #2 squares together then add the #8 light blue rectangles like this

and sew the block together with the #1 squares like this

another great letter from a farmer’s wife on pages 108-111, how she was NOT allowed to go into a barn or anything much outside as a child. How sad…. Isn’t that our culture today though? My kids are just as guilty, they don’t spend much time outside at all, well now it’s too hot! but my kids spend way too much time on electronics! Is it making them weak? physically; yes, mentally; probably too. I’m just as hooked as they are though, so I can’t judge them.

My son had two part time jobs over the summer, one at a car parts store and one at a country store, guess which one he liked the best?  The country farm store! it was hard work, physical work, but he enjoyed it, loading hay bales or feed for people or whatever other things they do there, unlike the car parts store, he just stood behind a counter and surfed the internet on his phone in-between customers, he was BORED!

When I was a kid I helped in my parent’s stores, I felt to carry boxes up the stairs, unload containers or do inventory or work the register, I loved working at the stores! (I didn’t do it much because I was a kid and the BOSSES daughter)

There’s something good about physical labor! You feel like you did something!
