Farmer’s Wife QAL block P

It’s time for block P for the Farmer’s wife QAL

Block P is the first block on row 4 below, it’s block #43 in the book and it’s named Garden Path

It’s on page 71 and 170

To make this block, I simplified it a bit- there’s more seams but it’s easier to sew!

with Light Blue cut out (28) of #5

with Medium Blue cut out (4) of #3 and (4) of #2

with dark blue cut out (4) of #5 and (4) of #2

With black cut out (20) of #5

sew all the HSTs together with the light blue as a background, so 4 with medium blue, 4 with dark blue and 20 with black

then I sewed into rows of 3 like this and 2 of each one

and sewed those together into quadrants like this, the diagonal stripe is the black, the medium and dark blue swap places on the two different quadrants.

then sew the quadrants together into the block like this!

On page 70 and 71 it mentions how finally there’s home economics in schools so girls can grow up and take pride in being a house wife and learns, cooking and cleaning etc… HA! not anymore!!

I did take cooking classes a bit in school in Denmark, but when I switched schools in 6th grade, my new school didn’t have that as a class.

I’m not a great housewife, well I love to organize but I hate cleaning! and I do cook now but since my husband started working from home he cooks almost every day. I make my kids do the bathrooms usually once a week if not every other week (they don’t do a SUPER job, but it’s something!) and I do make them vacuum their rooms once in a while too, but usually Dan and I do that around the house, I seem to do the upstairs the most and he does the downstairs.

Why is there such a stigma to being a house wife? I took Solveig to church recently to watch a movie called Eve in Exile (it’s online and I think you pay 99c to watch it) it’s about the feminist movement and the negative effects it’s had on society (of course there’s SOME good from it too) It’s a good documentary type of move, watch it if you can!
