It’s time for the Farmer’s Wife block O
Block O is the last block on row 3 and it’s called a friendship star! (I’ve made several quilts with this block and also have a scrappy pattern using this block!)
Frienship star is on page 168 and on page 106, the letter in the book mentions learning about nature the natural way and not in a soul-blighting way, I had to look that up in the dictionary, blight can be a disease in plants, it can also be ruin or decay, so a soul decaying way of learning about nature? Maybe she means by just reading about nature in books instead of planting and touching nature? I really LOVE the science in Sonlight, when we planted bean and corn seeds and now got corn and beans out of it, hands on learning is great for kids!
Here’s what you need for block O
with dark blue cut out 1 of shape #1 and 4 of shape #3
with grey cut out 4 of shape #1 and 4 of shape #3
sew the 4 HSTs together, easy peasy!
then sew into rows
and then into the block like this
