Have you tried the Maple leaf die by Accuquilt?
It cuts out the pieces to make an 8" finished block!
I just finished this fun maple leaf table topper that measures 24" x 24"
I started with 2 x 2 green maple leaf blocks, then added a skinny border to make it 18" (18 1/2") then added flying geese made from the 6" QUBE set and corner squares to finish at 24" x 24"
Even though it looks like you could recreate this with a QUBE set, you can't but it can still work with 8" or 4" QUBE sets or in my case the 6" QUBE set!
I have used this die several times! I even have a pattern where you can make the quilt with the die OR rotary cut :)
I have made this fun table topper for a magazine several years ago where the leaf blocks were all scrappy!
