Have you tried the NC star die by Accuquilt?
It's a BOB die that makes a 12" Finished block.
BOB stands for Block on Board, meaning your cut out all the pieces for the block at once!
Here I picked out 3 fabrics to make a small table topper in black, grey and white

The first time I use a die, I use a sharpie and mark how big to cut fabric strips for each shape. Here I fanfolded the fabrics so I could cut everything in ONE pass in the GO cutter!

And VOILA! all the pieces were cut at once!

I then started sewing the pieces together into larger sections

and soon the block was done!

Then I added borders

It finished 18" x 18"
And I quilted it in a rather dense feather design

If you'd like to mimic what I did you can find fabrics in my shop
EQ says 1/4yd of each color
Either in solids, similar to mine

Or try the "bunny" fabrics, this one in brown and orange

Or Blue and Green

Here's also some more ideas from EQ
This one measures 36" x 36"
Here EQ says 1/2yd Red, Dark Blue, White
3/4yd Medium Blue
and 1/4yd Grey

Or a "bunny" version
1/2yd Orange, Green, Beige, 3/4yd Brown and 1/4yd Yellow

Here's another one where I colored in more triangles in the middle, notice the difference? It'll be 36" x 50"
EQ says 1 1/4yd Beige, 1yd Brown, 1/2yd Orange, 1/4yd Yellow

As you can see, the NC star is a versatile block and lots of fun!!
