The Chinese Lantern BOB die makes an 8" finished block
It has 3 different shapes on the die: A, B, C and you have to cut out 4 of each but half in reverse - so fan folding works great!
Here's some ideas from EQ

I'm pretty sure I've made a scrappy version of the one below, I just can't find the picture.

I wanted to try this last quilt design with alternating QUBE blocks.
I cut out the pieces in the pink teacup fabric (from my FQ club), solid pink, white and grey with dots.

Somewhere in the cutting I did a mistake and cut out the pieces for the alternate blocks with the 9" QUBE and I didn't realize the mistake until all 9 blocks were done, so instead of ripping those 5 blocks apart and recutting with the 8" QUBE, I just added a skinny border in grey around the Lantern blocks (1" cut so 1/2" finished) all the way around to make those block 9" then I added the sashing and borders!
I TOTALLY meant to to that, right? Don't tell the quilt police!

It still looks great after being quilted!

The quilt measures 37" x 37" so a nice baby quilt!
The Chinese Lantern die is a nice die to have in your stash, those angles would be hard to rotary cut or foundation paper piece, but it's just SEW much easier to cut out with the die!
Get the die here, it's on sale!
Also if you want to try to make it in these colors below and get fabrics here
