13 year Bloggerversary

My blog is officially a teenager!

I started blogging in 2010 and started off doing LOTS of posts with a few pictures on each.

I went back and grabbed some of the pictures from Jan 30th 2010 (the anniversary is the 29th but I didn’t have any pictures that day)

The first picture is of Solveig sleeping with the first quilt I ever made, as I learned to quilt while I was pregnant with her, so almost 19 years ago -it was a summer class and she’s born in the fall, there’s nothing left of the quilt now, she loved it to shreds!

The next quilt is a simple brick pattern, I can see my machine quilting lacked in those days, but that’s what you get with doing straight lines on the regular sewing machine I guess.

The next two quilts are from a book called “sew one and you’re done” the concept is cool the block pieces are huge so they were quick to finish and I think it was that book that showed rounded corners!?

Next is a FQ Christmas runner I still have and put out every Christmas and then think that I really need to make a new Christmas runner!

This baby quilt I think was from the same book, it was called something fat quarter book and I remember being frustrated with the cutting because it didn’t have a FQ right, it wanted to have a FQ 18″ x 22″ nowadays (even 12 years ago) FQs were rarely that wide, so I think I tossed the book.

next is a card trick quilt, I think I gave that to a neighbor, I’ve made many different card trick quilts since then and it’s easy with Accuquilt QUBE dies!

Like my pattern “Shuffle”

And looking back I saw this star quilt, which I made for a co-worker, I’m pretty sure she paid for the fabrics and picked the pattern, I’m surprised I did such a fancy star back then, well it’s good I wasn’t afraid to try something new!

and my all time favorite quilt pattern is the Yellow Brick road, such a great and easy pattern to make from FQs! (and rounded corners again LOL)

and this quilt I made for my mom, she had brought some fabric from Denmark that were maybe old curtains or something like that, but still cotton, so I don’t know…..I think she still has it (of course she would, she’s my MOM and moms keep everything, right?? well…. I don’t really, I can’t keep everything unless it’s really, really special! so I guess a quilt is!)

Found out my mom was in the hospital for a few days recently, but because of privacy stuff they can’t tell me why, though my mom says I’m allowed to know everything but nurses are saying she hasn’t consented, so I don’t know!

Here’s an appliqued table runner, I think it was my first time doing applique by machine and of course I had to try something hard, right? I might still have this one somewhere too!?

Here’s another quilt from that FQ book.

and a leaf quilt! I gave this to my husband and I remember swapping fabrics with a neighbor who loved earth tones and reproduction fabrics, the construction is different than my “Interlocking leaves” pattern

One of my favorite quilt books for a long time was “twist on bargello” and I made several quilts with it like this one

and this one

Now here’s a REAL bargello quilt, I often hang this in our living room and this is the first quilt that won me a ribbon!

and the last one to show is this sudoku quilt I made for Bjorn, it’s fun to see how the kids have grown!

It was around this time in 2010 that I got my first long arm machine too, so then my quilting skills really took off!

It’s been fun to go down memory lane!

I have blogged 3365 times in those 12 years! that’s almost every day! (I do take Sundays off and there’s days here and there I miss too)

I keep doing it because you READ them! I know I’m bad about reading other blogs and I see the numbers fall on mine too but that’s why I have the email list, it’s just so much easier to skim over the email and then click if you want to read more, right??
