Pink blog hop

Welcome to the Pink Blog hop! and thanks to Carla for hosting it!

I wasn’t sure what to make for this hop- isn’t that always the issue?? Then I looked at a top I had waiting to quilt since NOVEMBER! and it had pink in it! PERFECT!

I started this as a scrap buster and had intended to turn it into a pattern for my shop, now I don’t know….. Anyways I used the 6″ QUBE (or 12″ QUBE) set and used the 3 1/2″ squares and HST dies. I made the HSTs in pink and white then I cut out 3 1/2″ squares in muslin and started adding strings to them, the light purple were diagonal and the pink blocks where pretty straight- I tried NOT to make them perfectly straight, but just to have fun with them.

then I lined them up on the 3 1/2″ die again and eyeballed that it would fit over the square, because it’s totally fine if it gets cut a little crooked, here I added 2 blocks at a time.

Then I cut them out

Here’s a front and back look of the blocks, it’s again ok that it’s a little bit off, I know the squares are 3 1/2″ that’s the important part!

Perfect blocks ready to go!

I forgot to take a picture of just the top, it’s pretty thick but my long arm could handle it!

I had a pink print that I used for the binding

and I used any small yardage scraps I had in pink for the backing.

The quilt measures 37″ x 47″- should I turn it into a pattern? it’s pretty easy to figure out just by looking at it!

Here’s the rest of the participants in the blog hop, thanks again to Carla for hosting it- I’m a bit jealous that I don’t get many participants for my hop in March 😉

  1. I love the quilt!!!
It is easy to figure out, but you know, there are people out there that wouldn’t have a clue – so write the pattern! 🙂

Awesome use of the accuquilt to trim your blocks. I might try that for the project I’m currently working on. I’m dreading trimming them as it really hurts my elbow. On top of that the quilt and colors are beautiful. Great way to use up scraps. Thanks for sharing!

  3. Oh, Bea, I love everything about this quilt. Such a great way to use those scraps! I’m definitely tickled pink.

  8. Lovely quilt! I love that it uses scraps. Those things seem to multiply, even when I use a bunch, but I love the outcome. Thanks for sharing.

  9. Love this quilt! Love the Strings! I love how these hops get us to finish up old projects and use up our stash!
