2023 Quilt Project list week 5

Some weeks it seem like I don’t do much or maybe I just sew more, other weeks I’m super busy running around, that seemed to be this week.

I made more eyeglass cases for the Emporium in town

Then Tuesday afternoon, after school I was at my ironing board and noticed there was blood droplets on the door right next to the ironing board, the only one that could have done that was SWIFFER! He jumps up on my ironing board and places often (though NOT the kitchen counter!) anyways, I called Sonja and we found him and he had a bloody nose, then sneezed and more blood came out! He’s been snotty and sneezy for a couple of weeks, so I did a quick google search and as I expected it’s an upper respiratory infection, so I called our vet, they couldn’t see us until April! another vet couldn’t see us until Thursday, but recommended the urgentVet in Chapel hill, sounded pricey but the 2nd vet said they had heard it wasn’t too bad so I called them up and they said $99 plus meds etc and to book online, so I did and we went up there after dinner and there was no one there except the staff, a nice clean place, it didn’t smell at all like a VET! they saw Swiffer and said it was an upper respiratory infection we got antibiotics and he also got fluids as he did have a fever but was otherwise alert. an hour later and a little over $200 we were on our way home again and everyone was happy! (Sonja had been crying and was SO upset thinking that Swiffer is dying!! Even Dan thought it was cancer, I knew before googling that it was the cold that got worse, well it was my instinct- I guess a mom of 4 and having several pets, gives you that sense. LOL) Swiffer is doing much better now, I don’t think he was bothered by the bloody nose at all, just the sneezing and wheezing, poor guy!

Last night I walked into Solveig’s room and she’s been sorting and tossing old craft paints and then had left them on her desk and got home from school yesterday and found this stain on the floor so she wrote this little note!

(She thinks one of the girls might have spilled paint, they obviously tried to clean it up!!)

Nothing else much going on, oh I did talk to my mom and to nurses and caretakers and social workers and now they KNOW to tell me if something serious is going on and not just to send an email that my mom is in the hospital or was, I need to know more details, because I don’t know if it’s minor or if I need to book a plane! And now she’s being tested for dementia, which I had a feeling about, so it’s good that we get things squared away now before she can’t remember anything and doesn’t know anything!
