QUBE QAL block 8

It’s time for block #8
block8b
It’s a simple triangle in a square!
we’re using PURPLE (if you follow the rainbow colors) and there’s 12 of this block! (it’s going to be sideways, see below)
With die #13 but out 12 in the background color (white)
and with die #14 cut out 24 triangles in purple (12 +12) if you fold the fabric then it’ll do half of each when you cut.
If you’re using scraps or a FQ bundle, just look at the rows so far and see what goes with it, this purple block will complete the whole row, so it’s a good “spacer” block/row

For the 6” QUBE version I used a FQ bundle and I hadn’t used this brown, so I cut that with die #14 and white triangles with #13

The 8” version I used scraps of blue and yellow as my background, I was able to find a chunk of blue that I could cut out all the pieces with and it was a solid blue, so I didn’t have to pay attention to 12right plus 12 left.

with the 9” version I’m using a bunny and cat FQ bundle and no background color, since the block is going to be sideways, I made sure to have 6+6 of this black bunny print, so they are all facing the right way.

the 10” version, I’m using yardage and I looked at the previous row and decided to just use green and the black background print
(oh and you can switch colors around if you want, if you want to cut the setting triangles in the background fabric, then that’s up to you, it uses about the same amount of fabric I think)

with the 12” version I am following the rainbow colors, so I cut out scraps in purple, I ended up cutting out sets of 4 at a time, two fabrics I was able to cut 8 triangles out of (see the final top picture below) and I actually dug into some yardage of white for the triangles as all my white on white scraps were too small.

Sewing the triangle in a square together is easy! just remember to iron the seams OPEN!

Here’s the 8” version (so these are 4 1/2”- 4” finished)

Then you sew these together like this in sets of 2 to make a diamond block.

Here I had to pay attention to the 9” version, but it turned out cute!
There should be 6 of these sets BTW

Then you sew the blocks together into a row and sew these to the bottom of the quilt top so far.
Here’s the 6” version
