Curvalicious pillow with Island Batik and Accuquilt

This month’s theme with Island Batik is Curved piecing!
I’m not afraid of curves Winking smile
BUT I’ve had this clam shell die from Accuquilt, sitting on the shelf just staring at me without ever being used!! so I figured it was about time to try it!!
I got out some bright batik scraps and I was just going to cut out a bunch of clam shells and sew them together and see what I’d come up with!
The die has notches on all the sides, so that helps a LOT when sewing it together!!
I downloaded a few different directions from the Accuquilt site, as one was straight up clam shells and another had them tossed like this and I liked that better!
I stuck the pieces on my design wall to make sure the same fabric wasn’t touching each other
The directions showed to sew the rows together diagonally, it was a bit tricky, as the curves are so small (this is the smallest clam shell die)
But I kept at it, in between projects Winking smile
I could work on it faster without losing track by referring back to my camera after sewing a bunch together, so I wouldn’t sew them together wrong.
And here’s the finished “top”
I had to press and fudge a few places but made it work!
Then I trimmed it!
and then I turned it into a pillow! I stuffed it with fiber fill and sewed it closed.
I used a piece of red blender batik for the back
a quick and fun project and it was fun to make a small project to try a new technique…
Curvalicious Quilts
I have another curved project coming up on Accuquilt’s blog too Smile

I love the end result but they look too tiny for me, kudos to you for sticking to it:)
