no winner but a new iron

I did an EQ tutorial last week of my ladybug quilt block that was in McCall’s.

No-one linked up Sad smile

so I can’t give away the magazine…..

instead on a HAPPY note!

Last week I got this RELIABLE iron from amazon.

the reviews said to use distilled water, so I got a gallon of that!

I’m still learning it, it steams VERY well, almost too well, so it’s a bit scary some times, maybe that’s just user error!? and I’m so used to my iron beeping when it’s ready or when it shuts off, this one doesn’t, it takes a little bit longer to heat up, but it’s HOTTER than my old one and I know there’s a BYPASS to not have it shut off after 8 min, I might use that, I don’t know yet, it uses the steam FAST and I have to turn that off if it’s just resting, otherwise it’ll just sit there and steam into the air.

Again, I think I’ll learn to like it, just a bit nervous about it.

Do any of you have this iron?

I just cant wrap my mind around spending that much on an iron! I started quilting about 5 years ago and have killed an iron a year!! The last two I git the 1 year warranty so it didn't cost me a penny to replace them! This newest one shuts off after 8 min and I do miss my 15 min shut off'!!

I have a Reliable iron and love it! It takes getting used to the noises it makes and the powerful steam, but when I'm forced to use a different one (like at a quilt class) I really miss it.

I have the same one. I just love it and would never use anything else. Worth every penny in my humble opinion. Enjoy!

Hi! I also bought a reliable iron from Amazon a couple of years ago. Loved it for the excessive heat. After 6 months it just stopped working. I contacted Amazon, and then had to contact Reliable in Canada direct. The help was very helpful. I ended up shipping it back to them with $35 and they fixed the electrical system. In the meantime - I had to have an iron - so I bought a Rowenta. My Reliance came back after 6 weeks. It is sitting in my cupboard. I'm still using my Rowenta. But at least now I have a backup.
So keep your receipt!

I have one of these irons and I love how it cuts down on work for me. Stick with it you will hate not taking it on retreats for fear of something happening to it. (big bucks means it stays at home.

Looks like a neat iron Bea! I am using a little heavy vintage iron with no steam and does it get hot!!

You will have to keep us posted on the iron. I would love another strong steam iron. My nice Rowenta died after just 4 months.

I have a Rowena, one made in Germany not China, and the steam is so hot that I have to be careful not to get burned by it. I'd hate an iron that shuts off so fast. I think mine waits a bit longer.
