Today is one of those days where I've been sitting in my sewing room not doing much!
well I did do a little.
well yesterday afternoon....
This picture is blurry, because I had to really zoom in and can't take pictures of the whole thing and show it. it's a round robin swap I'm part of, the beginning block arrived yesterday and I played with EQ to see what I could come up with
the block doesn't QUITE look like this, but it was a block already in EQ7 and it's close enough
yesterday we all drove into town, my kids have spring break and my husband took the week off as well, maybe that's why I'm in a rut?? I keep getting interrupted, don't get me wrong I love having the kids home, it's just a different "groove" I'm in when they are here.
so going into town, I brought the Dr Seuss quilt with me to work on the binding and I finished it not even a mile from home!
did I show you the swirl meandering I did all over?
here's the video of it, I think I already showed it, but here it is again :-)
I had precut the binding before the whole quilt was put together, then once I got the border on, I wasn't sure about the binding choice, there's not much contrast, but I stuck with it and then while I was working on it, I thought that dr Seuss is funky and crazy too, so it makes it fun to have that binding on, and it's for a baby, so I think it'll be just fine! :-)
in the mail yesterday I also got these paper pieced flowers, I've always wanted to try these and have made the two fabric balls for my kids like I mentioned earlier today, I could see that the cardstock was glued to the fabrics, which made it a lot neater!
I then found I had some tiny mini flower "kits" from a quilt show I went to and I glued the cardstock to the fabrics and toay I've been working on them, I guess I should have just glued on the flaps instead of the whole hexagon too because it was very hard to poke my needle thru, hmm lesson learned.
I mentioned earlier too that I order a bunch of cardstock shapes from www.paperpieces.com
can't wait to get them.
here's another update on my 2012 list

#35(mar) another quilt for McCalls- top done, binding and backing ready
#36 (mar) Round Robin swap - mailed
now there's other things I really want to start too.
well I HAVE to start more owls and portfolios for the kids school's craft show in may
I would also like to make a quilt top with the twist and turn ruler
and I need another leaders and enders scrappy project
I also want to make a strip quilt from scraps, but I think I want to sew it onto muslin, but I don't have any of that here, has anyone used something else on the back? I have plenty of white-ish "ugly" fabrics I could use, as long as I don't sew white strips onto it maybe?
oh, and once I get these cardstock pieces I want to make more fabric balls..... also for the craft show and the BABY!

have fun preparing for your craft shows
The Dr. Suess quilt looks great, I shared the links to it with a friend who's doing a Dr Suess themed nursery.
Despite my own sewing related to do list, I'm collecting ideas for wonky house blocks via Pinterest... even trying to see if I can get enough people to do a swap with me. If it does work out, I'll be sending it your way for quilting!
I love that Dr. Seuss meander. It's perfect for that quilt!
