A little bit of everyting :-)
I'm still working on the barcode quilt, the rows are done and I'm sewing them together now, but I'm taking a break, I'm going a little nutty here with all the black and white.
I did hear a comment from someone that the code DOES link to radio shack's projects page, that's where I got it from! so that's cool, I will upload it there once I'm done with the quilt, even though it's suspposed to be meant for projects made with items from radio shack, but I'm sure they won't mind
:-)
Well I took a break from the barcode quilt and quilted the CIRCLE in a STAR quilt, do you see the sharp stippling?
And you wouldn't think I had enough of black and white? I felt like making another set of owl pot holders- in black and white! kind of nuts? well this is for the craft show next weekend.
I will have a tutorial next month, SOMEWHERE!! wait and see
Here they are again with their crazy cousins.
Now I've been making this kaleidoscope block before, first I tried regular paper piecing, then I tried the freezer paper method where you fold the paper back and never sew onto the paper but right next to the fold, this time I'm trying ricky tims stable stuff, so I printed it out on his sheets- they are very cool BTW, half paper half fibers.
Sewed the block together
Then soak the block in water for a day or over night
and I took the block out of the water today and laid it to dry
this is what the block looks like after I smushed it around a bit, some fibers still left on the seam areas. we'll see how it looks when it's dry and how it quilts.
TADA! all the rows for the barcode quilt are done, they are LONG and just hanging over my chair.
I ran out of audio books to listen to, so for now I busted out some old CDs
a little Andrew lloyd webber,
celine dion,
beatles flute,
sarah brightman
and some pachelbel ocean stuff ( no idea where I got this CD)
Now THESE just came in the mail- well the last of them.
a red white HST swap, we each had to make 16 x 6 so 96 red and white HST.
I just packed them up and some are on the way in the mail already.
Now WHAT to do with them??

I love those black and white owls!
Where do you get the time? I'm gonna buy my material next week for red star
You know, when I paper piece, I just use regular printer paper. But before I sew, I set my stitch length small (1.4 or 1.6) and I sew over all the lines WITHOUT any thread in. This has two benefits. The first is that it gives me easy to see/feel lines on the back side of the page so that it's easier to place my fabrics in the right spots before I flip it over to sew each line. And the second is that after sewing it up, the paper pulls right off without leaving any paper behind - because now it's been stitched on twice with a small stitch length, which makes it so well perforated that it's a breeze to remove. The most I've ever had to do it use a tweezers to get 2 or 3 little bits out if I've made an error and let my seam wander enough that a small piece gets trapped between the lines. But that hardly ever happens. Give it a try with some scraps and see what you think!
