Today started off with my favorite breakfast, greek yoghurt and ancient grains granola from costco. YUMMY!
I also got a package in the mail. This FQ bundle from riley blake design, DROOL!!!
now I have to find a pattern I want to use, any suggestions.
I'm tired of yellow brick road, have tried turning 20 ( there's 21 in here BTW)
and the scrappy FQ book I have is no good anymore, it has the FQs at 22" wide and they are NOT.
Well tomorrow I AM going to a quilt show in sanford, sooooo...
maybe I'll look for a new book/pattern.
But then again I have EQ and really should just look there!! hmmm
just LOVELY bold and modern colors, black, white, grey, red and pink, how fun.
I'm scared to wash them now they are so pretty.
So I woke up this morning and thought of my ol' Elanor Burns die for this star and to use my fall scraps, I knew I didn't have many scraps, but I was able to make 2 blocks and the same yellow background for a sashing/border.
Now I don't know WHAT I did, but the stars don't line up. hmm.
I should applique SOMETHING on there?? I'll have to think about that now.
I have the circle dies, but what about leaves/pumpkins. ohhh I'm dreaming again on another die :-)
This weekend my daughter got invited to a party, well, Solveig's birthday is tomorrow and HER party is saturday, so I had to finish up this set yesterday, because I knew I'd be busy planning and cleaning today etc.
Good think I just bought these cute purple batiks, they look GREAT.
I'm starting to use funky stitches as the quilting on the portfolio.
I mean I have a machine that can do 300 stitches, well maybe not that many but it seems like a LOT!
and I only use, 1/4", straight in the middle, zig zag and a button hole stitch, so WHY not?
this stitch is a little curvy swirly ribbon sort of stitch, fun to sew.
On this portfolio I only had thick interfacing and figured I'd try it- I've realized that SOME of my other sets may not have gotten any interfacing at all, but are still fine.
Anyways, this thing is THICK, a bit too much, but I was able to sew thru the layers and finish it and it looks fine.
Here it is open :-)
A set of owl hot pads, also made from the fall scraps!
Normally I made the white of the eyes apart but when I had cut the shapes out with the GO! cutter, I realized one set didn't cut out all the way, it cut on the fold, so I laid it out and it looked CUTE! so the other two complete circles I overlapped in the same way and still sewed the button hole stitch around the middle as if it was two pieces on the owl that was not...
Good for a craft fair coming up next month at Pittsboro Elem. School.
All that appliuque made me tired the other day so I whipped these together quickly.
Two christmas portfolios, also for the craft fair.
here they are opened up, I still prefer the black one :-)
Two fall owls ready to be sewn together and two christmas owls ready to be stuffed.
AND, yeah, that picture is my husband and I when we were dating ( so 15 yrs ago ?)
He's LICKING my cheek! LOL
time flies! SIGH..... we've been married almost 13 LONG.... AHEM I mean 13 GREAT years :-)
