Hoppy easter

Hoppy easter!
After I took that needle turn class, I just love to add a little of that on my quilts now if I can, I saw this pattern before the class and just HAD to make it, I don't like to see machine stitcing on appliques..... My next test will be mono filament!! we'll see
anyways, going to karate/ dance lessons with the kids I have a lot of sitting time...
Above pic is before it was put together and quilted and embellished, below the bunny got buttons and bows! meandered tiny tiny oon the white part, did a spli feather on the pink background
did a free form scallop in the squares and a leaf vine on the skinny border and feathers on the order border and fun easter eggs in the corners
the finished quilt!
There are few quilts that I LOVE when I'm done with them, I can be very critical sometimes and wish I had done something different or not done something, you know what I mean, but this one I'm actually proud of..... it will be a family keepsake, NOT for sale :-)

Kaleidoscope quilt

Oh How I love this new template I got!
Let me start from the beginning, first I got this book on sale from I think connecting threads, I just loved the look of the book and once I looked thru it I decided I HAD to buy this template, instead of making a flimsy thing from copying the book, so I called up the ONE store in NJ where they carry it- or at least the website reffered to this store, and who picked up the phone!? the author of the book! I thought that was really special, so we talked a little, and I placed my order for this SMART PLATE template for kaleidoscope quilting, this pattern was medium rating in the book, but I figured it out, it was lots of fun to make and I love the result.
It was supposed to have this extra wide border around, but when I finished the main part I stopped and figured it was big enough and used the border fabric for the backing fabric instead.
just did a funky all over free motion meandering
here's the website for the template which comes with one free pattern BTW

Say Hi to Sharon for me

needleturn flowers class

Finally I was able to upload more pics, can't wait until we get highspeed out here in the NC sticks! I had to leave the computer and come back for the pictures to upload.
Anyways,
here's some needleturn flowers I did in a class with some neighbors several weeks ago- I think january, in class we just learned how to do the stem, a leaf, a flower and a circle, I did the rest on my own and added the blue borders and black and brown borders, the pattern showed the grass border, but I widened it.
So I tried to have a try at thread art too, I did the grass in different green colors on my long arm, little veins in the leaves, tiny circles in the flower centers, a sort of petal design on the flowers, circles on the blue border and a free form sort of straight wood grain line on the brown border

hard to tell but the pink is actually two colors

I like it, it's hanging up in my sewing room above my stereo...

bible quilt

I was going to upload more pics of other quilts, but after that little pop up window crashed on me twice, I'm just doing this quilt for now, tomorrow is another day....
anyways, I recently finished this bible verse quilt.
I went to a quilt show in snaford, NC in january and bought the pattern which came with 3 FQs with printed bible verses on it, I thought it was so neat, so I kept it, then a week or two later, I found out a dear friend at my church ( who watches my daugther alot while I'm at bible study), that she just turned 60.
I just knew this kit was for her!! I had to ask relatives what the colors and style was like, and they all said RED RED RED and she's from nicaragua, and love bright colors too.
So I ended up with this!
I just did a plain meandering over the bible vers blocks, tried some small feathers on some blocks and just different fun things.
little swirly thingys on the yellow border and giant leaves with mini leaves inside, on the large border.

She loved it!

First class!

Today and last saturday I taught my first quilt class at a local quilt store!

It was a twist on a bargello table runner.

Even though only 3 signed up, it was still good for my first class.

The ladies were really nice and loved to see their fabric choices.

From the TWIST on bargello book, when the students cut out the fabrics I like to roll them up and lay them out like the block is supposed to lay out, then you can change your mind on something the last minute

Now this lady ended up shrinking the block and turning it and making a different sashing, think it will turn out cute.

This one below was the table runner I made for the quilt shop, the owner paid me to make it for her, for the store :-)

how to set up a quilt on Hinterberg frame

So I decided to take a few pictures of the steps I take to put a quilt on my hinterberg summit frame.
The BEST part of this frame is the crank system and rollers, I just love ALL of it.
I took a lot more pictures but just picked a few for here

First I pin the backing to the front roller, I found out that if I do edge to edge it's so much easier and fasterThen I pin the backing to the take up/rear roller, and after that do the batting and top on their front rollers, I then pin the batting and top about an inch below the leader on the rear roller
Here the rollers are hanging losose- or rather the fabric is handing loose.
Here everything is tightened up and ready to go with my voyager 17 machine.

BOM feb

I thought I had uploaded this block but I guess I hadn't.
well here it is, having loads of fun with needleturn, here I allowed to sneak in some yellow as part of the blue fabric. Love this stuff you glue to the back of the paper- not freezer paper...
still can't think of the name.....
