BOM needleturn

I also had to tell about a needle turn class I took two weeks ago, though my class block is done but not the borders.

Then I looked online and found a BOM-

I just love the portability of needle turn and decided to join this BOM and do them, my kids have dance/ karate and even just sitting in front of the TV and still have "family" time, I love doing it. it's soo opposite of my quilting style otherwise, usually I quilt and go go go, here it can take a few days for one block and I don't care, I love the therapy of it, I do consider all quilting therapy!

anyways here's the first block, I decided to go with blue and white.

and I used this interfacing sheet stuff, I have to look up the name again, they are sheets you can even put in the printer, I glue them on fabrics with a glue stick, when the block is done it soaks overnight and the gluey part of the paper inside disappears, but there's still a little stiffness/trapunto feel to it. LOVE IT

customer drangonfly quilt

Some customer quilts can be hard and others easy, this was one in the first catagory, though it all worked out.
This lovely couple gave me two quilts to quilt for them, after loading one on my hinty frame and everything set, it was just way skewed and backing too small, I just knew it wouldn't work, so we worked it out that I did their other one and meanwhile they'd get more fabric for the backing, I have to remember to tell people NOT to piece the backing in little pieces.... lesson learned
Anyways, this quilt had some really nice machine embroidered butterflies and drangonflies blocks....
the wife wanted some drangon flies on the border as well.
We met first and discussed designs etc.
Here's pics of the border and blocks.
I did plain meandering in the blocks all in yellow thread BTW. which was a last minute change and I love how it turned out.
around each block are free motion leaves
The outside corner I did a peacock feather- is that what it's called, then the white border next to that I did free motion feathers, on the yellow borders I did the drangon flies and meandering and leaves, and the skinny black border has leaves again, now here the batting was a smidge too skinny, so I did what I could but they have to cut off a little from each yellow border...
they just picked up the quilt and were happy and gave me backing for this other quilt.

My Valentine's

Okay so I know the post is late and this quilt was a few days late too for Valentine's or wait... it's 363 days EARLY!
You see my block swap quilt here next to it.
This pattern is called Good Morning Valentine! from McCall's quilting 100th issue.
I got the fabrics from fabric.com and good thing I always have to round up the yardage to each half yard because one fabric was directional and I had to cut more pieces to turn them right.
Here's a close up of one block, where I did a feather in a circle- I know it's hard to see, but that's okay
Here below I started at the center square went out to the corner block and did a heart witl scallops around then back and did all 4 and regular hearts in the white blocks, then the middle looked to drab and I did a swirly thing in those

back of the quilt
