Valentine's 2010

Here I got some people from the hinty loing arm yahoo group to join a hinty block swap group I started, our first swap was a Valentine's swap, it was really fun and cute
here's the blocks that came in the mail- I made the bottom left ones

here's the top sewn together and appliqued these little love bugs on there

the quilt all done

2010 quilts

This is a scrappy star quilt
again some squiggly curvey meandering

it ended up quite big

a table runner for a local quilt store where I'll be teaching a class in late feb

quilts to sell

as always I try to sell some quilts,
I have an etsy store, but haven't had any luck since I opened it.
Though the other day I listed some on craigslist and got a few responses about this Dora one, we'll see if it sells.
did meandering and hearts

a fun cat quilt, a downloaded pattern - I think, and fabrics from fabric.com

did a fun loopy, feather squiggly pattern

a small wall hanging/table topper, I tried to mimic the paisley sort of in the quilting, like on the green fabric

customer quilts

Here's a little preview of quilts I've done for customers
This blue quilt was great and I wanted to do something different!
I like the way it turned out
a star quilt with fish I did a wave on the borders and bubbles on the white part

a dog quilt for a little one, gotta have dog bones and hearts!

The owner of my local quilt store had me quilt this for her, the sashing I did leaves- vines with berries

each center I did this freehand medallion sort of and a little feather action in the corners

This was my FIRST customer quilt on the long arm, just hight lighted the fairies with circles and leaves

Here's another bargello quilt I finished in 2009, this is my last 2009 post YAY, lots of catching up to do. If you noticed the blue floral bargello, it's the same pattern
This quilt has fabrics with asian geisha girls, and I quilted in black with a random swirly thing, don't know how to name it

fabrics I got from fabric.com- that site is addictive! they send sale emails everyday....

Here's another bargello- made with my favorite bargello pattern
is this number 4 with this pattern? I gotta look
anyways, this quilt I gave to my MIL for christmas 2009

I think fabrics were from connectingthreads.com

quilted a sort of asian flower on it. I also made a table runner from scraps that I will give to her later

rasmus klump and nativity scene advent calendar

Here's a close up of a quilt I made my son for christmas
I had this rasmus klump from DK and had saved it for THAT special moment, but then before christmas I figured that my son is 7 now, I better use this! so I did.
I have to mention a blog site I came across, Leah Day- her stuff is great and she has a daily new quilt design, I got very inspired by her to do the quilting on this quilt

I picked a pattern for each color and then stuck with that the whole quilt thru.
yellow has a string of pearls, red has hearts, white has a shell type design etc.

a nativity scene advent calendar kit I got from connecting threads I think, I made it the previous year (2008) and quilted with gold thread and followed the outlines of the barn, the angel, Mary and Joseph etc.

trapunto

Here's my first try at trapunto.
I saw this pattern in a magazine, now it did have some applique on the border, but once I did everything else here, I just loved the simpleness of it all
I instead quilted holly stuff around the border
a new squiggly design around the white part

so this is the trapunto part, when appliqueing, you cut out a piece of batting that's larger than what you are appliqueing, I pinned it to the front and back, the zig zagged around the edges

then flipped it over and CAREFULLY cut away the surrounding batting

when everything is done, I quilt like normal with a layer of batting between everything.

a star queen quilt

My first 100% commissioned quilt after getting the long arm!
There's so many tiny pieces in this and a queen size, took longer than I thought.

baby boy scrappy quilt I gave to church

A scrappy little thomas the train quilt, a friend suggested the sort of train track quilting on it, which I did..

Another bargello, using fabrics from a local quilt store, very interesting to again use the muted colors instead of the brights I usually do

the back I quilted with roses and random leaves.
I just this week gave this quilt to my pastor's wife, who's recovering from knee surgery :-)
